Defensive Long Gun AR-15 Fundamentals and Safe Operation
This course is designed to help students develop a strong foundation in the safe handling, proper maintenance, and responsible use of long guns. Students will also gain a broader understanding of the platform’s role in lawful civilian home defense and defense of life, with safety and responsible decision-making emphasized throughout.
What the Course Covers
Classroom instruction covers basic nomenclature and function, cleaning and maintenance, and considerations for accessorizing the rifle. During live-range instruction, students will learn to operate your long gun safely and effectively, confirm zero, and complete practical, cumulative drills.
Course Format
- Total duration: 6–8 hours
- Classroom instruction: Approximately 3 hours
- Live-range instruction: Approximately 3–4 hours
Pricing and Scheduling
- Subscription holders: $200.00
- Non-subscribers: $225.00
- Classes must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.
Required Gear
- A minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition appropriate for your firearm
- Sling
- A minimum of two magazines
- Eye and ear protection
- Lunch, snacks, and water
- Long pants and closed-toe shoes
- No low-cut tops
- Weather-appropriate clothing and supplies, such as sunscreen and a hat
Important Policies
Classes are held rain or shine, so please arrive prepared for the weather. Monday and Tuesday classes require at least two participants to be booked by closing time on the preceding Friday; otherwise, the class will be canceled.
