Course Overview
Students will learn the correct techniques for running a Pistol Mounted Optic‑equipped pistol, including:
- Efficient marksmanship mechanics for pistol mounted optics shooting
- Dry‑fire and live‑fire drills designed to build consistency
- Optic setup and zeroing (10–15 yards recommended)
- Understanding MOA, dot size selection, and sight picture
- Open vs. enclosed emitter optics
- Parallax considerations
- Transitioning to iron sights when needed
This course is ideal for shooters looking to sharpen fundamentals, improve accuracy, and gain confidence with modern optic‑equipped handguns.
What You’ll Learn
- Zeroing a Pistol Mounted Optic and confirming point of impact
- Mechanical offset and how it affects close‑range shots
- Initial sight acquisition and dot tracking
- How to engage targets if the optic fails
- Equipment maintenance and optic care
- Different mounting systems and their pros/cons
- How to use the Pistol Mounted Optic as a self‑diagnostic tool to improve shooting
Requirements:
- Handgun with Optic attached properly (at least two magazines)
- A holster that fits your make and model of handgun with an optic
- Approximately 250 rounds of ammunition for your specific firearm
- Have the ability (training) to safely draw from and safely return your handgun to your holster
- Instruction Manuel for your optic
- Adjustment tool for your optic
- Extra batteries for your type of optic
- Durable belt for holster mounting and retention
- Closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals)
- Appropriate clothing for the weather
- Pen and paper for note taking
- Eye Protection and Hearing Protection (electronic hearing protection preferred)
- Lunch, snacks, and drinks (water recommended for hydration)
