Introduction to Pistol Mounted Optics

$225Class description: Learn the basics of shooting with a Pistol Mounted Optic (PMO). Students will learn the correct way to use a PMO pistol through efficient marksmanship mechanics and a variety of dry and live fire drills. We will discuss several topics including: Optic Zero (10 to 15 yards recommended), Optics MOA, Open Emitter VS. Enclosed Emitter, Parallax, Transitioning to your Iron Sights. Students will sharpen their fundamental handgun skills and gain a much better understanding of a Pistol Mounted Optic and its advantages, such as improving the performance of the aged eye shooter, having a single focal plane sighting system, to utilizing the PMO as a self-diagnostic training tool and much more. There will be dry and live fire drills covering how to zero a pistol mounted optic, engage a target should the optic fail, mechanical offset, initial sight acquisition, equipment maintenance, different optic mounting systems and different types of pistol mounted optics.
Requirements:
- Handgun with Optic attached properly (at least two magazines)
- A holster that fits your make and model of handgun with an optic
- Approximately 250 rounds of ammunition for your specific firearm
- Have the ability (training) to safely draw from and safely return your handgun to your holster
- Instruction Manuel for your optic
- Adjustment tool for your optic
- Extra batteries for your type of optic
- Durable belt for holster mounting and retention
- Closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals)
- Appropriate clothing for the weather
- Pen and paper for note taking
- Eye Protection and Hearing Protection (electronic hearing protection preferred)
- Lunch, snacks, and drinks (water recommended for hydration)
